In Remembrance of our Grand Father Late Shri. Prahlad Karmakar. Born in 1925, Bikrampur Village, Bangladesh. First Artist to set up a studio for nude study facility in Calcutta. He was the first Indian Artist who won the Bronze Plaque in the San Francisco International Exhibition in 1939.
Prahlad Karmakar was a well known artist of his time. Prahlad taught painting at the famous
Government School (later 'College') of Art and Craft, Calcutta.
He had migrated to the city from North East District of Mymansingh, East Bengal (now Bangladesh ) in the early decades of the 20th century to study art. By stages his name spread far and wide. One thing led to another and he was offered a prestigious post at his Alma Mater, the premiere art institution of undivided India . In 1939, he won the bronze Plaque in the San Francisco International Exhibition. In his lifetime he received commissions to paint portraits of British Administrators, Nawabs and Maharajas, while collectors bought his creative paintings..
Various Art Workshop are also organized to provide an opportunity to learn various techniques and medium by renowned / senior water colorist, painter, sculptor and photographer who taught mediums like Water Color, Acrylic, and Sculpture with concrete and cement as well the photography. Three days Symposium on Art and Art Tourism, where many renowned Professors from various reputed institution of India like BHU and College of Art etc. delivered their lecture demonstration followed by various performances of Indian Classical Dances and Folk dances by International level Artists as well as Upcoming performing Artists.
